MONITORING OF BRUCELLOSIS IN AGRICULTURAL ANIMALS AND WILD FAUNA IN THE TERRITORY OF UKRAINE IN 2017–2021

According to the WHO, about 500,000 new cases of brucellosis in humans are registered annually in the world. The territory of Ukraine is free from brucellosis of agricultural and domestic animals. Since 1967, brucellosis has not been registered among sheep, for the last 25 years - among cattle. Individual cases of brucellosis have been confirmed among humans in the private sector through direct contact with imported animals. However, currently in Ukraine, under the influence of modern socio-economic factors, migration processes, the danger of cross-border introduction of infection, as well as the discovery of new species of Brucella, the study of their natural reservoirs, the formation of foci of the disease in territories previously free of brucellosis, brucellosis remains important and an actual problem. As antibodies to the causative agent of brucellosis were detected in 20 samples of blood serum collected from wild animals in 2017–2021, the problem of animal brucellosis requires in-depth research and continued monitoring of the spread of this infection among susceptible animal
