Abstract

Monitoring of listeriosis in animals makes it possible to control the prevalence of the disease and the biosafety of food raw materials and products of animal origin, considering the health of the population. The goal of the work was to analyze the results of microbiological monitoring of the listeriosis pathogen detection among animals, fur animals, poultry and feed in Ukraine in 2018-2022 to determine the level of its prevalence in livestock farms. Material and Methods. The study was carried out in the research bacteriological department of SSRILDVSE in accordance with the current regulations. Mapping of the obtained data by regions of Ukraine was carried out in the Quantum GIS software version 3.16.0. In vector layers a quantile with 5 data classes was selected for classification relative to the boundaries of areas. Results. Based on data analysis during 2018-2022, 25,070 samples of pathological and biological materials from pigs, cattle, goats and sheep, fur animals, poultry and feed were tested for listeriosis. Compared to 2018, in subsequent years of the studied period, the number of L. monocytogenes isolation tended to decrease, as the samples number. The constant circulation of L. monocytogenes was confirmed in Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Sumy and Cherkasy oblasts. The largest number of studies on listeriosis was carried out in pigs – 2158 samples, but the pathogen was not detected. Among 728 samples of pathological material from cattle, 1 isolate of L. monocytogenes was registered. Among goats and sheep, 4 isolates of L. monocytogenes of 629 tested samples of pathological material were identified from Zhytomyr (3) and Sumy (1) oblasts. The number of poultry studies for listeriosis were 18,925 samples of pathological material, from which 7 isolates of L. monocytogenes were isolated. According to the results of microbiological monitoring for listeriosis among fur animals, horses and feed samples during 2018-2022, the listeriosis pathogen was not identified.

Conclusions. 14 isolates of L. monocytogenes were identified (1 isolate from cattle; 4 – from goats and sheep; 7 from poultry; 2 – other) during microbiological studies of 25070 samples of pathological and biological materials from pigs, cattle, goats and sheep, fur animals in 2018-2022. Cases of the disease registration and L. monocytogenes isolation were sporadic, but the pathogen constantly circulated in the farms of Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Cherkasy and Sumy oblasts.
